Lovely Accommodation with a Lovely Owner
This guest house was absolutely perfect and exactly what I was looking for on my quiet break away.
It was in a good location, away from the crowds of people on the sea front in a quiet residential area over looking Radipole lake, but only a fifteen minute walk to the centre of Weymouth town. Martin, the owner of the guest house, was very welcoming and attentive but he also gave his guests space and freedom to come and go. I wasn’t too sure about the Scandinavian breakfast idea, but after experiencing it at Lakeside Guest House, I can honestly say it was good fun. I would definitely recommend this accommodation to anyone happy to stay a little further out of the main town in a relaxing and quiet part of lovely Weymouth with a kind and friendly host.

Brilliant
What a fantastic time we had at Lakeside. Our host Martin couldn’t have done any more to make us feel welcome.
I just can’t find any negatives to find about him or his guest house. Can’t wait to go again. So if you want a few nights R+R go to the Lakeside..you know it makes sense.

A great stay
This was an ideal location for me to use as a base for visiting many other local areas.
The accommodation itself was well kept, well appointed and very clean. The bedroom was more than adequate and full of the extras that make your room comfortable and the communal lounge looked very well appointed. I used one of the two available bathrooms and it was exceptional in quality and cleanliness. Martin, your host was very friendly, welcoming and more than willing to cater for all your needs or requests. The choice for breakfasts was the usual great English cook-up or a vast choice of cereals and fruit to make an excellent start to the day. – Lovely. Full marks to Martin for a great Guest House, something to be proud of. Well recommended!

Superb
From the minute we arrived until the time we left, Martin the owner could not do enough for us.
It was a real home from home. Breakfasts and Martin’s famous homemade bread were superb. We can honestly say that this has to be one of the best b&b ‘s we have ever stayed in . We were all really sorry to have to leave !. We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful guest house in great location
We stayed at the Lakeside for 2 nights and martin (the owner) made us feel so welcome.
Freshly cooked breakfast each morning with the best home made bread ever. Nothing was too much trouble for him and we will be returning in the near future.

just passing through
Stayed at Lakeside for just a night because of moving further down South.
The place on arriving was strange because of where it was. This though did not show what a friendly and welcoming place the house was. Martin was an excellent host who could not do enough for the people staying there. He was friendly and made our stay pleasant and happy. I would definately recommend and be happy to stay again which is something we are thinking of for next year already. Thanks again to Martin

Fantastic
We were a little wary of booking Lakside as we have never had to share a bathroom before, needn’t have worried as both bathrooms were large, spotless with fantastic power showers.
Martin was one of the best hosts we have encountered over the years of holidaying, nothing is too much trouble in fact you are made to feel like friends as opposed to guests, all was really informal from the large breakfast table in the kitchen/diner with superb home made bread with breakfast to the welcomed can of beer on arrival. We cannot recommend Lakeside enough as it helped to make our break.. thank you Martin.

Carlsberg don’t do B&Bs, but if they did….
I really can’t compliment Martin enough for the accommodation, facilities and hospitality he provided.
The house is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac and within comfortable walking distance to Weymouth town centre. There are a number of routes to chose to take you to the town one of which is through a RSPB sanctuary called Radipole Lake. There is an expansive garden which is available to guests and although not south facing gets the sun for the whole of the day due to it’s size. The room was comfortable and clean and gave a very good view of the bird sanctuary. There are tea making facilities which are generously topped up daily, a small TV and a wash basin. Personal towels were provided and changed regularly. Due to our late booking only the twin room was available but the beds were easily pushed together and made a comfortable king size. There are two guest bathrooms with toilets, both have power showers and one has a bath. Both were exceptionally clean and contained soap and shampoo. The guest lounge contained a large screen TV with Freesat and Apple TV. There were also a number of books to read; particularly about Weymouth. Martin, the host, went out of his way to tailor the experience to suit each individual guest. Martin has spent a long time on the road living out of a suitcase and so if anyone knows what the weary traveller wants it is him. Although the advert indicates a ‘Scandinavian breakfast’, in truth Martin will provide you with anything he has in his fridge. In all the time I was there I never saw him stumped, even by the most demanding guest. Oh. and if you like home made bread then you will not be disappointed. Martin has great local knowledge so if you want to know anything just ask. If he does not know the answer then Google is always at his fingertips. If, in future, I am heading for the south of England then Lakeside is where I will stay; even if it means travelling a few extra miles.
A great stay in WeymouthWe were met at the front door by Martin and wecomed us in showed us to our room which was large and comfortable as was the bed as well. The breafast with his freshbaked bread was great. We felt like being at home. He was a great host. Would go again and recommend it.Reviewed by Michael T From Canvey Island Who stayed in July 2013 |
A Bank holiday weekendWe took a chance because almost everywhere was booked for our chosen weekend. We were very glad we did as it was everything we wanted. I think this was the best b+b we have stayed in. Nothing not to like!Reviewed by D. Morgan From Newport, UK Who stayed in May 2013 |
